How it is at Finland?

Viesti Kirjoittaja spok5 » 11.03.2005 14:01

Hello,

Can somebody tell me, how things is done in Finland with rollcaged cars.

Is it legal to drive rollcaged car (rally car) not in event, let's say - from garage to a private training place ? Does racing cars receive road traffic approved sticker every year ? How about mandatory insurance ?

If not, how this system is made in finland.

I think in Finland mostly we go to training place with a trailer , but if you live like kilometre from the training place you can drive there.

And that is only my opinion .

If you have a car registered in Finland (and scrutineered) it is no problem to drive it in normal traffic.
If you have a car bought from abroad, or if you have taken it out of the register, then you have the possibility to buy temporary plates to drive it to a testing place.
We don't have any year stickers on our plates, we must bring our cars to scrutineering once a year.

Well it depends on how and if the car is regisrered that is the taxes are paid in advance. For each reace or practice if you want to drive there you have to get a transfer-permission and traffic insurance and red number plates from a local "katsastuskonttori" (Vehicle Inspection Center) These plates and the permission and insurance will cost you 23 Euros /day.
More information from http://www.ake.fi/index_e.asp ,mail or call them and they will tell you how to proceed in the matter.

Thank you, I don't want to drive around finland in a rally car. We have a little fight with our government (Latvia), since they banned any car with any rollcage type from traffic at all.

I just wanted to collect information. Thank you one more time.

This is what I expected, I have been in your country as a chief scrutineer.

When you put a rollcage in a Finnish registered car, and you go to the yearly scrutineering, they write in your registration document, that the car is registered for two persons only when fitted with a rollcage. That's it.
