D1GP on maailman johtava drifting-kilpailunjärjestäjätaho. Kaudella 2009 D1GP järjestää neljän miljoonakaupungin alueille rakennetuilla ja erityisesti drifting-käyttöön suunnitelluilla radoilla kansainvalisen D1GP-USA -sarjan. Sarjassa tulee ajamaan kuljettajia Japanista, USA:sta, Kanadasta, Iso-Britanniasta, Meksiskosta ja Australiasta, mahdollisesti myös Suomesta.
Suomesta D1 on valinnut FPDA Drift Series 2008 -sarjan näyttöjen perusteella neljä kuljettajaa kutsuttavaksi ajamaan maailman tähtikuljettajia vastaan maailman kovatasoisimpaan drifting-sarjaan. Kutsun saaneita ovat Janne Leinonen, Harri Hokkanen, Tapio Murtoo ja Juha Rintanen.
Japanin D1GP-sarjasta osallistumisensa ovat jo vahvistaneet mm. Daigo Saito, Yoichi Imamura, Ken Nomura, Nobushige Kumakubo, Takahiro Ueno, Toshiki Yoshioka ja Kazuhiro Tanaka.

2009 D1 Grand Prix USA Championship Points Series.
Your talents and achievements as a driver have drawn the attention of D1 Grand Prix
USA, the world’s leader in professional drift competitions. Should you accept this offer,
you will be amongst the world’s best drifters on custom configured drift courses in the
heart of heavily populated major cities in the U.S, watched by media from around the
world.
D1 Grand Prix has a rich history in drifting not only having developed the sport but also
the competition and judging formats. To this day D1 Grand Prix continues to draw the
mass media and largest crowds. For 2009 we are taking major steps to improve upon
this great sport and take us all to the next level.
We are pleased to announce that D1 Grand Prix USA is implementing a new fourth
judge to further improve the accuracy of scoring, and the final results. The “D1GP Pro1”
system involves Telemetry/GPS based computers that independently monitor each
vehicles position on the courses.
The three official D1 Judges now receive accurate vehicle performance data measured
at a rate of ten times per second. Vehicle drift angle accurate to 0.5 degrees, Speed
accurate to 0.1MPH and Lateral G forces accurate to 0.01g, now account for 75% of the
total score. Line and Style make up the remaining 25%. The “D1GP Pro1” system is by
far the most accurate and transparent judging system for drift competitions in the world
