Serious crash for Tobias during the testings on Monday!
RallyTeam Olsbergs both Subaru WRC S10 arrived to Finland during the weekend well prepared for the Neste Rally Finland starting on Thursday 4/10.
The team established test- and training activities on Monday morning outside Jyväskylä on a teststage with typical conditions for the Finnish rally. After only 1km and in high speed with 6:th gear, Tobias passes a slight left- righthand sequense where he jumps to far and looses the control of the car. Tobias and Kaj rolls several times before they crashes into a deep ditch close to some big trees. The damages of the car and roll case are serious and Tobias cannot participate in the rally. Fortunately neither Tobias Johansson nor co-driver Kaj Lindström got injured in the crash. The team decided today to withdraw both Tobias and Daniels car from
Neste Rally starting on Thursday.
After two very successful seasons 2003 and 2004 where Thomas Rådström won the Swedish championship 2004, RallyTeam Olsbergs havn´t had any success in the WRC challenge with two Subaru Impreza WRC 2005. We have been forced to retire in all eight WRC events we participated in so far, either because of mechanical problems or driver mistaces.
-The training crash on Monday is a big disappointment for all members of the team, and as responsible for the team and the safety we can not continue in this negative trend, says Göran Henriksson. The decision not to entry the other car with Daniel Carlsson is logical under the current circumstances.
Both cars will be transported back to Eksjö where we have to control the damages of Tobias car and decide if we can repair it. The WRC challenge 2005 is now over for RallyTeam Olsbergs but in some way we will be back in the future, ends teamboss Göran Henriksson.
