Having missed the Swedish stop last year, Liam was pumped to be there for one of the best rounds of Rallycross. In heat one, Doran showed amazing speed leading off the start and headed straight into the joker lap. A tight battle ensued between Liam and Alexander Hvaal until lap 3 when whitesmoke filled the air and the Monster Energy supercar was forced to pull off the track with a blown engine. Unfortunately, RX rules stipulate that an engine change during the events would incur a 15-point penalty to championship points. Given Doran’s position in the standings, the only sensible option was to retire from the event.

“It was better for us to retire from the event after the first heat than to change the engine and fight our way back. It’s really unfortunate as the fans come to see us battle it out on the track, not have the car sitting in the garage. I don’t come to these events to sit and watch. I’ve never forfeited from
an event before.”

While Doran sat out, his teammate, Andreas Bakkerud took home his first ever supercar win. Doran stated, “I’m really happy for Andreas – it’s his first win and it’s a big thing for all of us all. Our team has done a lot of good work to help him win. We’ve now won the most events in the championship–
three out of five–and we want to keep proving we are the best.”
