The 22-year-old, who claimed five consecutive victories en route to the GRC title, also clinched two X Games gold medals last year and the coveted AKK Driver of the Year prize in his native Finland.
Heikkinen said: ”After a successful year winning the 2013 Global Rallycross Championship my goal now is to win the new FIA World Rallycross Championship with Marklund Motorsport: nothing less. I’m confident that together we can develop a winning car and team. I want to thank team owner Jan Marklund for this great opportunity to join Marklund Motorsport. I’m pumped for the season ahead.”

The Marklund Motorsport-built Volkswagen Polo RX Supercar has undergone a year of testing and development last season, putting it in a strong position to fight for the title, according to Marklund.
”Signing Topi shows the sort of progress that Marklund Motorsport is making going into the new season,” he added. ”His results last year speak for themselves and we are incredibly happy to have a champion leading our driver line-up. It’s a very exciting period in our project and shows the hard work and planning that we have put in is really paying off.”
Heikkinen’s team mate will be Anton Marklund, who now heads into his second season in the Supercar Class.

The Sweden-based team will now continue its preparations for the 2014 season, during which it will compete in the summer X Games at the Circuit of the Americas in Austin (USA), as well as in the FIA World Rallycross Championship.
