After 11 years FIA European Rallycross is back in Finland, this time at Kouvola during July 10th and 11th. For Finnish rallycross star Jussi Pinomäki this means that finally will have a homerace. 3-time European Champion will join battle with the frontwheeldrive winning car Renault Clio in division 1A.

– Hopes are high. To have this actionpacked serie back to Finland means really a lot, not only for me but also for the sport here in Finland. At Kouvola they have done great work. Newly rebuilt Tykkimäki Circuit is just great, maybe it´s not the fastest one, but anyway the facilities are good. I have been driving rallycross for more than seven years across the Europe, and now I will have my 1st homerace. I´m really excited, Pinomäki says.

Pinomäki will have just a 2-round-project for himself. He already scored 7th place at Höljes, Sweden. This time his aim is a bit higher.

– That was a learning curve for me for sure. I took it like practising for this Finnish event. Now I am more familiar with that frontwheeldrive car. I would be very satisfied, if I can run to the podium. That´s my aim. We have another driver in our team, who will be out there for winning, Pinomäki says.

Another Set Promotion Clio driver Timur Timerzyanov won at Höljes, and he is leading the championship by seven points now.

– Once again Timur set the base. He took it straigt from the pole. He has done a great job so far, and I have a feeling, that will do it again and again. He is aiming for the title. If we can have two cars on the podium at Kouvola, that would be a totally awesome result. That is our goal anyway, teamchief Pinomäki says.
