There is no doubt that series leader Egon Kaur has a big part in that the eight crews from the WRC Academy
Class of 2011 will take to the tricky stages of auto24 Rally Estonia in their own Ford Fiesta R2s. In only its
second year, the event will provide a key testing ground, because while the surface is softer and sandier
than Finland, but the fast gravel roads and jumps are similar to those the crews will face later in the month.
Egon Kaur: „This is our home rally which is the biggest rally event in Baltic states. Yes, we want to win here
in front of our fans and friends. But Rally Estonia is also the best possible way to get a good feeling before
Neste Oil Rally Finland. Portugal and Greece were so called slow rallies. But Finland is fast. Most of the time
on the fifth gear and flat out. We haven’t been driving really fast this year so auto24 Rally Estonia is the
perfect place to speed up things for us.”
Craig Breen: „My goal is to get some competitive mileage before Rally Finland and to get a good setup so
when we go to Finland we will be quick from the word go. It will be interesting to compare against other
drivers in the WRC Academy also. I’m really looking forward to it.”
Molly Taylor: I am really excited to be coming to Estonia and I am using this rally as an opportunity to
experience the nature of the roads over there before Rally Finland. I have never competed on roads like
this before but they look fantastic and I can’t wait! I also have a new co driver so we will use this rally to get
some km’s together before the WRC.”
auto24 Rally Estonia is held on South-Estonian roads on 15-16th of July. It is the fourth round of Estonian
Rally Championships, second round of Baltic Rally Champoinship, the only Estonian race that is in the FIA
calender and candidate rally for FIA European Historic Sporting Rally Championship.
