For the many football teams contesting the World Cup in Brazil at the moment, coming home is a sign of defeat. For Toomas 'Topi' Heikkinen, it's a reason to get excited. Because although there are 12 rounds on the inaugural FIA World Rallycross Championship this year, and a hectic worldwide itinerary for Topi, which has included the X Games in Austin, there's only one place that he can call home – and that's Finland: where round four of the championship takes place next weekend.
Rallista sapattivapaata parin vuoden ajan pitänyt espoolainen Erkki Koskelo, 57, teki säväyttävän paluun arvostettuun Future Cup asfalttisprintsarjaan ja otti Senioriluokan tuplavoitot kahdesta Iso-Syöte Mäkiajot -kilpailusta. Koskelon riemua täydensi tallitoveri Mika Myllylän yleisen luokan sijat 6 ja 5 Suomen nopeimpien asfalttispesialistien joukossa.
Rallin EM-sarjaa johtava Esapekka Lappi ajoi ulos Ypres rallin lauantain toisella erikoiskokeella. Lappi oli kilpailussa kolmantena.
